architecture & gardens

New England is teeming with important historic places and homes.

We have enjoyed interviews with notable architects in the region, such as Dennis Wedlick, protégé of Philip Johnson, who has designed many unique houses and conservation subdivisions in the mid-Hudson Valley. Past articles have focused on Frank Gehry (Fisher Center at Bard College), Tadeo Ando (Clark Art Institute), and the covered bridges in Bennington. Garden writers—Abby Adams, Diana Niles King, Susan Crossley, the late Sandra David, and Sunny MacMillan Kuskin—have featured local gardens in upstate New York and Connecticut, such as Innisfree Gardens in Millbrook, Hollister House Gardens in Washington, Connecticut, and annual garden events, such as Trade Secrets in Sharon, Connecticut, and Hollister House Garden Study Weekend.
